Anett Krumbein

Germany (DE, EN, FR)

Hello, I'm Anett, 35 years old, product designer and always improvising and transforming things. That might have something to do with my origins in the GDR, where improvisational talent was in demand... After my product design studies in Kassel, I did an internship at gabarage Upcycling Design in Vienna, where new everyday objects and furniture are created from leftover materials and even entire hotel rooms are furnished. Through my project "bottled", new tableware made from old wine bottles, and my five years working for Leonardo, a brand for glass products in Germany, I have intensively studied the recyclable material glass. Now I've been travelling for a year, working on farms or helping friends, looking for intercultural exchange, new "green" inspirations, simple and often everyday upcycling and repurposing ideas. The last four months in South Africa have impressed me a lot and I am curious to get to know other African countries like Senegal and its people better.

„Upcycling is an important pillar in establishing a circular economy. In the Global South in particular, it contributes to the preservation of traditional handicrafts, to an increase in the quality of life and creates prospects for young people.“
