I am a textile artist working at the interface between craft and art. My interest lies in the diversity of textile craft techniques from different cultures. In my work I integrate appliqué techniques from Mexico, patchwork from the U.S.A., ancient embroidery techniques such as shibori from Japan, as well as traditional loom weaving. Textile has served for centuries not only as a clothing material, but also as a form of documentation of mythologies, migration and ecological circumstances. I take up this idea of visual communication in my work through my own interpretations and design, but at the same time I like to keep transparent the traditional knowledge and cultural origins of these techniques. I would be happy to exchange with textile artists and craftspeople from Senegal, to get to know their traditions of handmade textiles and to develop new possibilities together.

„Upcycling is an important pillar in establishing a circular economy. In the Global South in particular, it contributes to the preservation of traditional handicrafts, to an increase in the quality of life and creates prospects for young people.“
