Gabriele Horndasch

Germany (DE, EN, FR)

My name is Gabriele. I am a freelance sculptor and designer and live in Dusseldorf. I speak German and a little French. In my artistic work I have always liked to work with scrap or garbage. During the project “BLINDTEXT” I brought printed t-shirts from South Korea to Germany and made an installation out of them. In fashion, I am particularly interested in the cycle of production in Asia, in the marketing process in Europe and the upcycling possibilities in Senegal. I wonder how one could upcycle already used T-shirts in Senegal and make them attractive to Europeans. I want to develop objects that are unique but a part of a series. I am equally interested in clothing, jewelry and furniture.

„Upcycling is an important pillar in establishing a circular economy. In the Global South in particular, it contributes to the preservation of traditional handicrafts, to an increase in the quality of life and creates prospects for young people.“
